Psychotherapy
In addition to natural healing consultations I also offer pyschotherapy / counselling. I qualified in these before taking training in natural healing also. Sometimes, there is no substitute for talking things over. Anxiety, depression, trauma, insomnia, addictions, IBS, and many more conditions can have both mental and physical aspects, and can be approached from either perspective, or both.
For example, with insomnia, relaxation methods, self-hypnosis, and meditation can be sufficient for many people. For others, there are physical causes driving the condition, and these need to be resolved before optimal results can be obtained.
I offer consultations via Zoom in psychotherapy, natural healing, or both in combination, as the needs of the situation dictate.
Hypnotherapy
Hypnotherapy is a branch of psychotherapy that uses hypnosis / trance states for direct and rapid results with specific goals, such as anxiety, phobias, addictions, and traumas. I offer hypnotherapy only for in-person consultations in Newcastle upon Tyne.
Common questions about hypnosis are:
- What is hypnosis? Will I remain in control? - Answer: It is a state of profound relaxation, in which the client remains aware and in control. (Stage acts have given a false impression of hypnosis. The stage hypnotist gives extraverts permission to perform.)
- Will I remember everything? - Answer: Mostly. In deep hypnosis, as with deep meditation, some memories may be hard to access afterwards, though the awareness is there throughout, and you will at least remember that you were aware. But in most situations, the memory is as complete as in normal day to day activities.
- How does hypnotherapy work? - Answer: Many of the issues people come to hypnotherapists for are beyond their conscious control. E.g. someone might know consciously that spiders are not dangerous, but the unconscious may have different beliefs. Hypnosis brings the conscious and unconscious minds into communication, so that positive, lasting change can occur.
